About

HelloGolfers is an initiative born from the love for golf by two guys.  Groot Koos, which translates as “Big Koos” and Klein Koos, which translates as “Small Koos” is father and son.   HelloGolfers is a virtual clubhouse where all golfers are welcome.  Golf is the foundation on which HelloGolfers is building a community.  From the time people have been playing golf, they have used it to compete against the course, other golfers and themselves.  Golf is not just a sport, it’s a way to bring people together.  Golf is shared by families, friends, business associates, strangers and friends.  It is the only sport where players from all ages, gender and skill levels can share a game.

The world we live in places more and more demands on our time which detracts from the time spent on social interaction.  We have to social distance and the human need for community and belonging to a group is taboo.  Where is the time where friends shared conversations in the clubhouse after a round of golf?  HelloGolfers brings people together through golf again.  We share stories, advice and opportunities.  HelloGolfers is where you can enjoy everything golf with other golfing friends.

Groot Koos is a retired forensic investigator and auctioneer.  He is a well-known character at the Pretoria West Golf Club where he plays at least three times a week.  Groot Koos has been playing golf for 45 years and have played from a scratch handicap for many years.  These days he plays from a 9 handicap and has a killer short game and putting.

Klein Koos is blind.  He is a practicing physiotherapist with a special interest in the soft tissue system and movement mechanics.  Klein Koos is a member of the South African Disabled Golf Association and one of a few blind golfers in South Africa.  He holds an MBA and is an accomplished public speaker and coach.

The HelloGolfers logo represents Groot Koos as the K and Klein Koos with the braille symbol, three dots, for K on a golf ball because they love the game and everything it entails.  It is also the way they mark their golf balls.  So, if you ever come across a golf ball marked with a K and three dots, you will know that one of the Koos’ was there.

If you are a golfer and you enjoy the company of other golfers, HelloGolfers is the place to be.
